Why a photo beats a paint chip

A 2-inch chip can’t show you how a color behaves across a whole wall, next to your floor, under your actual light. Sample pots get closer but mean painting patches, waiting for them to dry and living with them for a few days. Rendering the color onto a photo of the real room shows the color at full scale, in your lighting, in seconds — so you can rule out the wrong ones before buying anything.

How it works

  • Upload any clear photo of the room. A straight-on phone shot in daylight works best, but the AI handles most real-world photos.
  • The AI identifies the changeable elements in the photo — walls, ceiling, trim, cabinets and so on — and lists them for you.
  • Choose a swatch from the built-in library (15,000+ colors across 8 brands, each with its real hex code) or just type the color you mean.
  • The render changes only the surfaces you picked. Paint is applied by a deterministic color engine, so the swatch you chose is the color you get, not an AI’s guess at it.
  • Compare before and after with a slider, then try the next color. Most people land on a decision after two or three renders.

What you can and can’t expect

The render is a realistic preview, not a color-matched lab sample. Screens differ, and real paint shifts with sheen and daylight, so treat the render as the tool that narrows ten candidates to two — and then buy sample pots of those two.
